Black + White
Photographs by Gary Zorko
A 44-page book of black-and-white photographs celebrating the look and life of the City of Los Angeles, available in soft and hard cover editions.
I wasn’t born here, but I call Los Angeles and the valleys surrounding the city home. I emigrated to the area during the summer after high school in 1985, escaping the familiarity of the prairies of south-eastern Colorado. I settled in and never went back.
I’ve recently rekindled my love of taking photos, and with it, a new respect for the black and white medium. The images in this book (with one digital exception) were captured on black-and-white negative film with a Canon AE-1 or blackbird, fly camera and self-developed.
This book is a sampling of the fusion of two of my loves – the City of Los Angeles and the power of black-and-white imagery. I hope you enjoy it.
